The large intestine channel begins at the trip of the index finger. It flows between the first and the second metacarpal bones, tendons of the short and long extensors of the thumb. The channel transverses the lateral elbow to reach the highest point of the shoulder. The channel continues along the anterior border of the acromion where it turns back, crossing at the point of Bin Feng IG.12 with small intestine channel of Hand Tai Yang.
Then the large intestine channel comes to the seventh cervicalvertebra, where the path forms a connection with the Du Mai and three yang channels at acupoint Da zhui GV.14.
From here, it descends to the supraclavicular fossa. The interior branch flows through the lung, passes into the diaphragm, and concludes in the large intestine.
The external branch from the supraclavicular fossa passes along the cheek, goes through Dicang E.4 point of Stomach Channel of Foot Tai Yang. It then curves around the upper lip and goes to the opposite site, where it intersects with the symmetrical branch of the channel in Ren Zhong point GV 26 of Du Mai channel. Thus, the left branch of large intestine channel passes to the right side of the face and vice versa. Then this branch rises up along the wing of the nose, connecting with the Stomach Channel of Foot Tai Yang.
Large intestine channel of Hand Yang Ming has functional connections with lungs and stomach. Points of intersection with other channels: Bing Feng IG.12, Dazhui GV.14, Ren Zhong GV.26, Dicang E.4.
