Localization

On the lower leg, midway between the tibiofemoral joint line (level with the popliteal crease) and the lateral malleolus, two finger-breadths lateral to the anterior crest of the tibia (i.e. one finger-breadth lateral to Tiaokou ST-38). The point is projected on the lateral edge of the fibula, at the outer edge of the abdomen of the tibial muscle.

Functions

Expels phlegm and dampness, fixes the mind, quiets the spirit.

Indications

- Digestive system: mucus accumulation and pathological fluids: diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, constipation, cutting pains in the abdomen.
- Respiratory system: mucus accumulation in lungs: suffocation, cough with abundant sputum, chest pain, pain in the hypochondrium with a feeling of swelling.
- 5 holes diseases: globus sensation, headache (raising damp-sputum to the head), pain and swelling of the throat mucous membrane.
- Reproductive system: leucorrhoea, uterine hemorrhage.
- Disorders of the mind: epilepsy, stroke with foam from the mouth, emotional lability (laughter-crying), manic and depressive state, anxiety.
- Channel diseases: feeling of lower limbs fullness, muscle atrophy, impaired sensory and motor function of the lower limbs.

Needling Method

Puncture perpendicularly 0.5 - 1 cun. Cauterization.
